Licensing General Information |

|
All software we provide, free and commercial,
is copyrighted by MathDirect or the software's developer.
The license agreement, under which we are willing to sell our software, is available from the product description pages. By downloading software, you agree to the terms of the applicable license agreement, a copy of which is also included in the downloaded material. Licensing for Mathematica Add-On PackagesOur Mathematica Add-On Packages are sold with single-machine licenses. We use Mathematica's$MachineID to implement licensing.
To determine the $MachineID for a particular computer,
start Mathematica and enter $MachineID in a notebook,
then hit ENTER or Shift-RETURN to evaluate it.
Make sure the Mathematica kernel is running on the intended machine (it could be invoked over the network and not run on the same machine where the frontend was launched).
$MachineIDs have the form NNNN-NNNNN-NNNNN, where N is a decimal digit (0-9). Packages that are written entirely in Mathematica are usually machine-independent and one edition runs under all operating systems for which Mathematica itself is available. Packages with a MathLink or other binary component depend on the operating system of your computer. Please make sure you are ordering the correct release, such as Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and Linux. For Unix releases, please check that your vendor's Unix version is explicitly listed as a supported version.
The Mathematica variable Network InstallationsYou can download Mathematica Add-On Packages with a single license for installation on a particular computer, or you can specify multiple licenses and download one copy of the software together with licenses for several computers for installation on a server.Network installation is recommended if your copy of Mathematica is also a network installation, because add-on packages should be installed inside your Mathematica installation. For a network installation you need to collect the $MachineIDs for all computers on which you want the package to run. Currently we do not offer (floating) network licenses. There are significant volume discounts available, however. |
